Nutrition Facts Calculation

Fee: $199 / product

A nutrition declaration is mandatory in all four markets: Nutrition Facts on most food sold in the US and a Nutrition Facts table on prepackaged products in Canada, and in the EU and Great Britain a nutrition declaration covering energy, fat, saturates, carbohydrate, sugars, protein and salt. In the EU, the declared values are average values based on the manufacturer’s analysis, a calculation from the known average values of the ingredients used, or generally established and accepted data.

Frequently Asked Questions

In which markets is a nutrition declaration mandatory?
In all four: Nutrition Facts on most food sold in the US and a Nutrition Facts table on prepackaged products in Canada, and a nutrition declaration in the EU and Great Britain. The table format and the declared values differ by market.
Do we have to commission laboratory analysis?
Not always. In the EU, the declared values may be based on the manufacturer’s analysis, a calculation from the known average values of the ingredients used, or generally established and accepted data. We separately identify the cases where calculation alone is not sufficient.
What information do you need from us?
The product’s recipe and the quantities of the ingredients. We run the calculation on this data and format the result in the target market’s table layout.
Who places the table on the label?
We deliver the nutrition calculation report and the table prepared for the market. To have the entire label reviewed against the market’s rules, you can use the Label and Content Review service of each region or our Multilingual Label Preparation service.
