Frequently Asked Questions
- Which markets do the technical services apply to?
- The United States, Canada, the European Union and the United Kingdom. We prepare the document, calculation or label to the rules of the markets where your product will be sold; if you sell to more than one market, we address each market’s requirements in the same piece of work.
- Is a single HACCP plan enough for all markets?
- Each market has its own rule. In the EU, food businesses apply a procedure based on HACCP principles (Regulation (EC) 852/2004, Art. 5); in the United States, FDA-registered facilities keep a written food safety plan (21 CFR 117.126); in Canada, SFC license holders keep a written preventive control plan (SFCR s. 86). In our HACCP and BRCGS service we prepare the documentation to the requirements of your target markets.
- Is BRCGS certification mandatory?
- No. BRCGS is not an official regulation; it is a private food safety standard that buyers may require from their suppliers. If your buyer asks for it, we prepare the required documentation in our HACCP and BRCGS service.
- Can I use the same label in every market?
- Usually not. The label language (English in the US, English and French in Canada) and the allergen lists differ by market: the US has 9 major allergens (FDA: Food Allergies), the EU and Great Britain have 14 (Regulation (EU) 1169/2011, Annex II). In our multilingual label, nutrition facts and allergen services we prepare the label separately for each market.
