IPAFFS Registration and Pre-Notification

Fee: $549

Products of animal origin, high-risk food and feed not of animal origin, animal by-products and certain plants are notified in IPAFFS before they arrive in Great Britain. For products of animal origin from outside the EU, the notification is made at least one working day before the goods reach the point of entry. These products are classified as low, medium or high risk; medium- and high-risk products require a health certificate.

Who Is Obligated?

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my product subject to IPAFFS notification?
Products of animal origin, high-risk food and feed not of animal origin, animal by-products and certain plants are notified in IPAFFS before they arrive in Great Britain. We determine for you whether your product falls into one of these groups and which risk category it is in.
Who submits the notification, and who remains responsible?
The notification is usually submitted by the importer or an agent acting on their behalf. The party that submits it is responsible for the consignment until the checks are complete, which is why we coordinate the details together with your importer or their agent.
Is a health certificate required for every product?
No. Products of animal origin from outside the EU are classified as low, medium or high risk; a health certificate is required for medium- and high-risk products. Our assessment also states which documents are required for your product.
What happens if the notification is missing or incomplete?
For products of animal origin, the notification must be made at least one working day before the goods reach the point of entry. If the notification references are missing from the shipping documents, the product may be held until the issue is resolved.
